Teen Night: Fandom Debates

  • Featured ItemYes
Chibi style Snape illustrationDo you love arguing with your friends about your favorite books, movies, and comics? Sign up to join the Fandom Debates! Four contentious and highly subjective resolutions will be debated:
  • Captain America should have rebelled against Iron Man and the Superhero Registration Act.
  • Steven Universe is a superior animated series to Gravity Falls.
  • Luke Skywalker is secretly Rey's father.
  • Severus Snape was a good man.
Teens will debate pros and cons of each resolution. Teens ages 12-18 can sign up to debate individually or as a pair. Registration will be available at the library check out desk beginning June 13th.
The order for each debate will be as follows:
  • 2 minutes for the pro side to present their case, followed by 2 minutes for the con side to present.
  • 2 minutes for the negative side's rebuttal and summary, followed by 2 minutes for the pro side.
  • The audience will cast silent ballots to declare a winner for each debate.

Not a fan of public speaking? You can attend as part of the audience and help decide the winner of each debate. Friends and family of debaters are welcome to attend as spectators.
