Master Gardener Presentation: Preserving Your Harvest

May 25, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. In this presentation, Jeff Peters, Travis County Master Gardener, provides an overview of the key food preservation processes; freezing, dehydration and canning.  Initially he looks at the factors related to food spoilage and the science involved in prevention.  This is followed by a brief history of each approach and a basic review of the tools and techniques utilized.  Finally he walks through a step-by-step illustration of the hot water bath canning process.  An excellent resource for those with an interest in starting to preserve their produce it also provides a great forum for the more experienced to engage and share their knowledge.
