Local Employers can now register for the Teen Job Pfair
The Pflugerville Public Library invites local employers to participate in this year's Teen Job Pfair! Interact with the community and connect with the local high school population looking to start their career journey. The deadline for employers to register is January 31. The fair will be on March 3, 2-4 p.m. Contact Amanda Cawthon to register.
The Teen Job Pfair is open to teenagers ages 14-19 and attracts a wide range of jobseekers, ranging from students looking for their first summer job to recent high school graduates ready to begin their careers. Last year’s Pfair featured almost a dozen area businesses, including the City of Pflugerville, Typhoon Texas, Maurices, Zaxby’s and Andy’s Frozen Custard, and drew over 150 enthusiastic young adults ready to join the workforce.
There is no registration fee for employers or applicants. Library events are free and open to the public. Employers may display promotional materials, distribute and accept paper applications, and hold on-site interviews. Teens will have access to an application station to complete paper applications and computers for online applications.
Area organizations with internship or volunteer opportunities are also welcome to register. Between school and extracurricular activities, many teens don’t have enough time to devote to a job. Volunteer positions are a great opportunity for them to gain experience, build a resume, and give back to their community.
This is the third year that the library has held this event. The library received the 2017 Upstart Innovative Programming Award in recognition of the Teen Job Pfair at last year’s Texas Library Association Annual Conference.
Employers who are interested in participating in the 2018 Teen Job Pfair can contact Amanda Cawthon to register. Teens and employers can visit the website www.pflugervilletx.gov/teenjobpfair for event updates.
