The museum is open from 3 - 7 pm on Tuesdays during the Pfarmer's Market in Heritage Park (May through October) and the first Sunday of the month from 1 - 4 p.m. (year round). We often hold special events, programs, and displays during these open hours. In addition, the Heritage House Partners have several annual events. Walk-in Genealogy Help (Last Tuesday of the Month, May - October, 3-7pm)
We will offer walk-in genealogy assistance with a focus on how to use library electronic resources and other free websites to learn about your family history. Bring notes including ancestors names, dates of birth, places where they lived, and anything else you already know.
Carver Genealogy Center Presents – African American Genealogy (June 12, 6pm)
Join us for a special presentation on conducting African American genealogy research by Cynthia Evans, Genealogy Preservation Coordinator at the Carver Genealogy Center in Austin.
Humanities Texas Display – Lone Star and Eagle: German Immigration to Texas (July 3 – August 7)
The museum presents a special traveling exhibit produced by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. “Lone Star and Eagle” focuses on the German immigrants who began settling Central Texas during the 1840s, imparting a distinctive character to these communities. The display features reproductions of archival photographs, newspaper headlines, maps, and paintings.
Photography Contest on display (September)
Winners of the Heritage House Photography Contest will have their photos on display at the museum. The exhibit will begin with a special opening on September 4th.
