Romance Readers Social
On the second weekend in February each year, we host local romance authors for a fun-filled afternoon of book signings, author interviews, crafts and games. Enjoy some cupcakes while chatting with authors and picking up some new reads. Anyone 18 and up is welcome to attend.
Our next Romance Readers’ Social is scheduled for February 9, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 pm. Confirmed authors include:
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—in second grade, around the same time she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. A one-time English professor with over fifty novels to her name, she now devotes most of her time to writing romance and dreaming up heroes. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her family. The life of seventh generation Texan and bestselling author, Jolene Navarro, is filled with faith, family, laughter, dirty dishes and all of life's wonderful messiness. She knows that, as much as the world changes, people stay the same. Good and evil. Vow-keepers and heart breakers. Jolene married a vow-keeper who showed her that holding hands and dancing in the rain never gets old. She uses her art degree to teach inner city kids about the world and they teach her about life. She loves creating worlds of strong heroes and powerful heroines who find love in spite of the obstacles they face. She is currently working on her new series that will set on the Texas coast. Her eighth Clear Water Book for Harlequin’s Love Inspired available where books are sold. Visit her at jolenenavarrowriter.com
Abigail Owen is an award-winning paranormal romance author. She is obsessed with plots that move hot and fast, feisty heroines with sass, alpha heroes with heart, a dash of snark, and oodles of sexy shifters. She also writes award-winning contemporary romance as Kadie Scott, so let's add in sexy cowboys and nerds! Abigail grew up consuming books and exploring the world through her writing. She attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing) and an MBA. However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it. Abigail currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her own personal hero (who she totally married!) and their two children, who are growing up way too fast. Visit her at abigailowen.com
Catherine Avril Morris is the author of eight contemporary romance novels and co-author with Lizzie Velasquez of DARE TO BE KIND, a memoir about the importance of compassion. Catherine lives in Austin, Texas, where she consumes as many breakfast tacos and double-Americanos as possible. When she isn't reading, writing, watching terrible TV shows with her husband or chasing after her many two- and four-legged beasts (that is, her beloved children and dogs), she is dreaming up sensual love stories with a pulse of humor and a whole lot of heart. Fun fact: Too many years ago to admit, Catherine had a role in a little film called Dazed and Confused that became a cult classic. The film was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in 2013; for Catherine, the highlight of the evening was shaking Quentin Tarantino's hand and hearing him dub her final scene in the film "the quintessential shot of the '90s." Cheryl Etchison graduated from the University of Oklahoma’s School of Journalism and began her career as an oil and gas reporter. Bored to tears and broke as hell, it wasn’t long before she headed for the promise land of public relations. But that was nearly a lifetime ago and she’s since traded in reporting the facts for making it all up. Her debut novel ONCE AND FOR ALL: AN AMERICAN VALOR NOVEL was awarded the Romance Writers of America RITA® Award for Best First Book. Visit her at cheryletchison.com.
