Costumes must be PG and Pfamily-Pfriendly. All costume props and weapons are subject to the approval of library staff. Pflugerville Public Library reserves the right to refuse the entry of a costume that Library staff decides is unfit for an audience of all ages. Costumes deemed inappropriate for a family-friendly event will not be allowed to enter the convention or participate in the costume contests.

There will be zero tolerance for harassment. Keep your hands to yourself. If you would like to take a picture with or of someone, ask permission. Please inform Library staff if you experience or witness any form of harassment.

Props & Weapons:

  • Prop or handmade fake weapons are allowed, and are the responsibility of the cosplayer at all times.
  • Weapons with a metal blade (sharpened or not) will not be allowed.
  • “NERF”, air soft, paintball and water guns with the firing mechanism disabled will be allowed.
  • Any prop weapon resembling a gun/firearm MUST have an orange-colored tip. We will have orange tape at the door if you need it.
  • Misuse of a prop or engaging in any type of inappropriate behavior (fighting, sparring, horseplay) will result in the immediate removal of the prop. All props are subject to review by library staff

Cosplay Contest

The Pflugerville Public Library is happy to host a cosplay contest for teens and adults at our 3rd Annual Comic Con. Thank you to Alamo Drafthouse, Chaparral Ice, Cinemark Stone Hill, GameStop, Go Games 360, Half Price Books, IKKiCON, Iron Fish Sushi & Grill, Okashicon, Spare Time Texas, and West Pecan Coffee + Beer for sponsoring this year’s competition.

The cosplay contest is for ages 11 and up. A separate costume walk will take place at the convention for our younger cosplayers.

Costumes that do not adhere to our cosplay guidelines will not be considered.

Registration is required to compete in the Cosplay Contest. Pre-registration is highly recommended.

  • You may pre-register through the online form through September 27. If you pre-register, you must check in at the Cosplay Booth at the convention by 3 pm.
  • You may also register in person at the Cosplay Booth at the convention. Registration will end at 3 pm.
  • Judging will take place at the convention at 3:30 pm. Winners will be announced at 5:30 pm.

You may only compete in ONE category:

  • Teen novice (ages 11-17): Anyone cosplaying less than 3 years or has won less than 2 major awards. One winner will receive a $25 gift card to JoAnn’s craft store, 1 pass to Ikkicon, 1 skate rental and admission to Chaparral Ice, 2 passes to Alamo Drafthouse Austin, and 1 pass to Okashicon.
  • Teen journeyman (ages 11-17): For those that have either cosplayed 3+ years and have won 2+ major awards. One winner will receive $25 gift card to JoAnn’s craft store, 1 pass to Ikkicon, 2 passes to Alamo Drafthouse Austin, 1 skate rental and admission to Chaparral Ice, and 1 pass to Okashicon.
  • Adult novice (ages 18 and up): Anyone cosplaying less than 3 years or has won less than 2 major awards. One winner will receive $25 gift card to JoAnn’s craft store, 1 pass to Ikkicon, 2 passes to Alamo Drafthouse Austin, 1 skate rental and admission to Chaparral Ice, and 1 pass to Okashicon.
  • Adult Journeyman (ages 18 and up): For those that have either cosplayed 3+ years and have won 2+ major awards. One winner will receive $25 gift card to JoAnn’s craft store, 1 pass to Ikkicon, 2 passes to Alamo Drafthouse Austin, 1 skate rental and admission to Chaparral Ice, and 1 pass to Okashicon.
  • Adult advanced (ages 18 and up): For those that have won 5+ awards and is typically at a “master” level or has formal training in fabrication. One winner will receive $25 gift card to JoAnn’s craft store, 1 pass to Ikkicon, 2 passes to Alamo Drafthouse Austin, 1 skate rental and admission to Chaparral Ice, and 1 pass to Okashicon.
  • Group (ages 11+, up to 4 people): Only one registration form needs to be completed for each group. ): The group will win a 4-pack of movie passes to Cinemark-Stone Hill, a certificate for 90 minutes of bowling + shoes at Spare Time Texas, passes to Ikkicon, 4 tickets for Okashicon, and each person will receive a $25 gift card to JoAnn’s craft store.
