The Library regularly welcomes authors representing various genres. The following events are currently scheduled:


Wednesday, July 18 and 25, and Wednesday August 22 and 29: Fiction Writing Series with Tracey Lander-Garrett

Writer and teacher Tracey Lander-Garrett will instruct you on various aspects of fiction writing. This is an interactive class where participants will get to work on writing exercises.

This class will take place on the last two Wednesdays of July and August. Anyone 18 and up is welcome to attend.

July 18: Part I. First Things First: Who, Where, & When
-Naming Your Nouns

July 25: Part II. Structure: The Ups & Downs of Storytelling
-Beginnings, Middles, & Ends

August 22: Part III. Narrative Choices: The Good, Bad, & Ugly
-POV & Tense
-First lines
-Last lines (chapter or story endings)

August 29: Part IV. Other Essentials: Keeping the Reader’s Attention
-Suspending Disbelief
-Description & Literary Devices

Saturday, September 29 from 10 am - 5:30 pm: Pflugerville Comic Con

You are invited to meet authors, artists, voice actors, cosplayers, and local comic shop owners for a celebration of comics, anime and pop culture. Activities include Q&A panels, gaming, comic- and manga-related crafts, drawing lessons, face painting, and a cosplay contest for teens and adults. We are updating our guest list regularly, so check back to see what's new! This event is free and family-friendly.
